Summary of Senior Master Sculptor Jenny Xie¡¯s Works

Xie Jiang Ling (Jenny Xie) has created many works of art during her career, with over a hundred traditional Chinese sculptures before 1979. Many of her works have won prizes in international exhibitions

¡¤In 1986, the self-portrait sculpture ¡°Expectation¡± reflected her inner feelings at the time, which was reported in the Wen Hui Newspaper one year later.

¡¤In 1987 ¡°Dream¡± expressed her love for her son. Also were reported on Wen Hui Newspaper. Works in this period are ¡°Black Melody¡± ¡°Royal Procession¡±, ¡°Flying in the Sky¡± etc.

¡¤ In 1990 she was assigned to make a bronze statue entitled ¡°Leopard and Mountain Nymph¡± for the Presidential Palace in Zaire and was invited to visit Africa afterwards by the Zaire government where she made a very detailed and intricate ivory sculpture called ¡°Village Scenery¡±. She also created another ivory sculpture entitled ¡°Love in Africa¡±.

¡¤ From 1991~1993 her main works were ¡°Music Spirit¡± ¡°, ¡°Understanding¡± and ¡°Bottle Dance¡±(door decoration)

¡¤In 1994, at the invitation of the Cultural Department of the Italian Consulate General in Shanghai, she attended an international seminar on ¡°Landscape, Man and Nature¡±. Her works£º ¡°Origin of Life¡° ¡°Vanishing Sounds of Music¡± and ¡°Naked Girl¡± were exhibited there and she was the only Chinese sculptor to be invited.

¡¤ In 1995, she carved a 12m x 1.4m wood relief covered with gold foil entitled ¡°The Scenery of Hainan¡± for the lobby of the Zhu Jiang Garden Hotel in China¡¯s southern most city, Sanya.

¡¤ In 1996 she created a 6 meter high stainless-steel sculpture entitled ¡°Sailing Ahead ¡° and two monumental granite-relief sculptures entitled ¡°Health for All People¡± and ¡°Olympic Glamour¡± for the Shanghai Qing Pu Stadium, the site of China¡¯s ¡°3rd Peasant¡¯s Athletic Meeting¡±.

¡¤ In 1997, ¡°Melody of Weave¡±, and ¡°New Big Striking Clock¡± both won prizes for best sculptures in a Shanghai regional competition.

¡¤ In 1998 Jenny¡¯s works of art included ¡°Supporting Each Other¡±, a stainless-steel sculpture and ¡°Puzzled Worker¡±.

¡¤ In 1999 ¡°Music Spirit¡± and ¡°Buddha¡± won Bronze Prize and Best Sculpture in the Chinese National Masters¡¯ exhibition, the highest level in China.

¡¤Created "Expectation", My servant", "My Sun - My Son", "Africa Light", "British Banker", "US Professor" and over 30 other works. Successfully held her-own exhibition, which was covered many medias. Showing sculptures at Shanghai Art Fair.

¡¤In 2000, created the following portraits: ¡°British Banker¡±; ¡°Chinese Famous Poet¡±; ¡° Famous Actor¡±; ¡°African Light¡±; and over 30 other works. In May successfully held her own exhibition at Shanghai Plaza. In November, took part in and exhibited in the Shanghai 2000 International Art Exposition.

¡¤In 2001, created ¡°Expectation¡±- My old Savant, ¡°My Sun ¨C My son was 5 years old", ¡°Comfort¡±, ¡°Twin light¡±, ¡°Kong Yi Ji¡± (who is a character from Lu Xu 's famous novel) and ¡°Lament over the dead¡±. In the September Exhibition in Hong Kong's Tong hall she displayed over 24 of her works.

¡¤ In 2002,she created a 2 Meter Diameter iron sculpture:- "Dragon Sign" for a Town in Zhe Jiang province .

Jenny Xie has a special inspiration for Portrait sculpture and throughout her career; she has created numerous portrait sculptures of people from many different walks of life. No matter what their backgrounds and what technique she has applied, she has always been able to grasp their inner lives and express them in her work. Many of her works blend a magical oriental spirit with western style, which has been widely covered in the media of many different parts of China and abroad.

2003 Created for memories famous composer He lv ting 100 birthday

2004 Created for memories famous composer Huang Zi 100birthday, it build in Shanghai conservatory. Created five groups sculptures for An Hui Province Wu Wei Culture Square. Exhibited sculptures in < Shanghai Art fair 2004> and showing making portrait for Dr. Louis-Marc SERVIEN of Lausanne of Switzerland

2005 Created five groups bronze sculptures for Wu Wei Culture Square of An Hui Province, Farmer Father and son that put paddy to machine by windy will be rice. made bust for famous painter Ha Qong wen and Miss,kim¡­¡­.

2006 Created President Bill Clinton¡¯s bust and got his compliment :"The bust in my likness-- It¡¯s terrific"
